Big Cats Slot Machine

Just when you thought that cats simply cannot get any more purrfect, they are presented to you as an opportunity to make some extra cash (apart from creating a cat’s Instagram profile that will launch your kitty to fame and let you tag along).

Besides, a cat makes everything twice as better, even things as intolerable as musicals. And to make everything a bit more masculine, Cats slots machine features big, wild cats and not the domestic kind. Kind of the opposite from IGT’s succesfull Kitty Glitter slot.

Cats Slots Bonus Features

The most prominent feature of Cats Slot is the Split symbol, presented with two cats on a single icon and therefore having double value. The Cats logo in this game is both the Wild and the split, replacing all symbols except for the Scatter (Paw Prints).

Scatters appear on reels 2, 3 and 4, where 4 Paw prints will double your bet and 5 will trigger the free spins. Unlike the winning combinations that are paid left to right, Scatter formations are paid either way.

Verdict

Probably the game’s lowest point is its surprisingly poor graphics, found by users to be insufficient and rather basic. Other drawback is the payouts which tend to be on the lower scale. The Split symbol on the other hand is an interesting addition, offering a decent increase of you winning odds.

Big 5 Cats Slot Machine

I loaded this slot with some trepidation, fearful that I was going to find another kitsch slot like Kitty Glitter. Luckily my fears were ill founded. Cats from IGT is very much focused on the bigger variety of cats – lions, tigers, cougars, panthers and leopards to be precise. This slot has a novel feature whereby the symbols can come in pairs. This means that even though there are only 5 reels, you can get 10 of a kind on one win-line –which will result in some big prizes.

The background music on this slot is a bit of a contradiction. It is electronic and atmospheric. Unfortunately, this stops between spins, giving a jerk back to reality effect which is opposed to the relaxation the music is supposed to inspire. There are plenty of roars for the wins included too. The symbols themselves are well designed, giving a classy effect overall.

Kitty Cat Slot Machine

Other than the paired cats (some reels have a pair of lions for example, which count as 2 for the winning combinations), there is nothing too interactive about this game. There is a free spins bonus round, and regular wins using the ‘Cats’ logo are doubled. Other than that it is a straight forward game, which will appeal to those who like to sit back and enjoy their slots without too intensive an experience. The top regular win is 10,000 coins, which gives an edge of excitement all of its own.

This is a 30 line slot. You can change the lines, though are only able to select from 1, 3, 9, 15 or the full 30. You can spin for 1c per line online, with a huge maximum of $100 per line available. The RTP on this game is 94.93%, which is around average for IGT slots online.

It is the ‘Cats’ logo that you’ll want to see the most. This is the wild (as usual, it substitutes for all but the scatter), and also has the highest single prize. You’ll get 10,000 coins for 5 on a win line. In addition, when the logo forms part of any winning combination with the big cat symbols, it counts as double. For example if you get 3 leopards and a wild, you’ll be paid for 5.

Pay-outs for the cats, which come in single and double format, runs from 3 to 10 symbols. Panthers are top, with 2500 coins for 10, then lions, tigers and leopards and cougars all with 1000 for 10. The remaining winning symbols are the playing cards, which pay smaller amounts.

The remaining symbol is the paw print. This is the scatter, and also triggers the free spins bonus feature. There are single and double paw prints available. 5 paws will get you 5 free spins, and 6 paws will get you 10 spins.

You go to a new screen, via a brief introductory ‘welcome’ screen. The golden savannah background turns purple and the reels adjust their hues to match. I am really not sure whether there are more double-cats during the free spins, or whether this was just a coincidence. The rules do not mention it, though I feel like there were more.

The wins accumulate in a total under the reels during this bonus. It can be retriggered with more sets of 5+ paws during play.

This is not my favorite IGT slot. Even after the initial boost from finding out it was not themed on domestic cats, I did not find enough action to keep me entertained for long. The double symbols feature is a great idea – with the chance of hitting 10 of a kind unique as far as I am aware. With only a few free spins, and a lot of roaring, there is just not enough going on for my personal taste. The stop-start music soundtrack tipped the balance for me. People who are fans of big cats and simple slots will love this game. For everyone else, IGT has plenty of great alternatives.
